Chrisette Michele~ Goodbye Game

Someone is going to have to explain this to me...I love her, but I don't know what the concept of the video is. If someone else could explain their take on the video, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and enjoy:

The Benefits of Exfoliating in the Winter

I (like every other woman in the world) want to have soft beautiful skin at all times. Exfoliating is a great way to keep your skin irresistible all year round, but I've always been turned off by the harshness of it. Rubbing grainy hard brittle specs all over me is torture not beauty. Fortunately, I have found the answer to my problems: Aromatherapy Sugar Scrubs from Bath and Body Works. I love these scrubs because the sugar is in a mixture of oils so it makes scrubbing the sugar on your skin just a little less painful. While you’re exfoliating you’re also rubbing oils into your skin. While you rinse off the sugar, the oils remain on your body to leave you smelling and feeling wonderful.

Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub in Sensuality-Jasmine Vanilla

The Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub comes in different fragrances, with my personal favorites being Sensuality-Jasmine Vanilla and Energy-Orange Ginger. Removing dead debris is a great way to make the skin look and feel healthier while preventing skin discoloration from dryness. Adding Vitamin E and C to your lotions and oils also help restore the skin and give a natural glow even under the harshest conditions. You can find this product for $16 at any Bath and Body Works or online at http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/home/index.jsp.

P.S. This scrub is perfect before going on a date, or if you’re going to show some skin. Happy Exfoliating!

"It is More Important to be Righteous Than to be Right." - Lauryn Hill

I found this video on a blog of Lauryn Hill speaking at a high school. There are some people in the entertainment industry that I would love to know personally, and Lauryn Hill is one of them. In an industry where superficial ideals are put on a pedestal, it is refreshing to see someone in entertainment that has a real brain, and a responsibility to put out something real to the masses. While watching this I just imagined that it was just me and her talking and chatting (with mainly me listening). Watching this reminds me that whenever we open our mouths to speak, we have to make sure that our words are fruit and not poison. I am still trying to reach that level of maturity in my physical walk, but mostly my spiritual walk with Christ. There is a verse in the Bible that I placed as my bio on Twitter. Now, I didn't place this as my bio because it was true for me right now, but I did it so that I could be constantly held accountable for living up to the standard that the verse has. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit- you choose." While tweeting I think that is something that I need to remember from day to day.

What really stuck with me was her Righteous vs. Right statement. The way she broke down and separated two ideas that we often assume go hand in hand with each other was deep. I love her and watching this makes me glad she is still spreading knowledge to the masses. Watch the video below. Part I:

Limitless Love

So I was browsing through one of my favorite  blogs and I came across a poem by Semhar. I went to her YouTube channel Semhars World and I found this amazing poem. Any girl who wants to get married one day can identify with the intensity of it.

Is the Invisible Part Really Invisible?

An example of an Invisible Part
There are always new trends and tricks popping up in the world of hair. Since I am in love with all things hair, it is my duty to try to have my finger on all the latest products and trends. However, there are some that tend to generate a bit of shall I say..."chatter". The Invisible Part is a method that I have seen sprout up within the past two years. It is a method of meticulously gluing small sections of the hair weft to an already placed part in your hair. None of the clients real hair is left out. You keep doing this method in such a way to actually create a new hairline. I was very impressed when I first saw this method and thought this technique was innovative and still do. However, with this method there is a fine line between right and oh so wrong. Like with everything else, I tried it on myself first to see if this something that I could successfully do. I found it to be successful, and thought that I could recommend this to some people who have a hard time blending their hair.

Even though there are some ways for it to be done successfully, you have to remember that there is a fine line between great and gross with this look. There are also some negative effects it can have on your hairline if used constantly because of the excessive use of glue in the hair. Also, if the hair isn't placed correctly it can look as of your part is too wide. Thus making the part look very odd, like the picture below.

I am all for experimentation, and I am actually a fan of the invisible part...when it is done correctly. Here are some videos from popular YouTubers who have mastered the art of the Invisible Part.

Whether you love it or hate it, the invisible part is here to stay. Women are always coming up with new innovative ways to style their hair, whether it is healthy for their strands or not. I just wonder what we could possibly come up with next?

A break from the curly

I straightened my hair and I attempted to curl it with no heat....it didn't work. So this morning I went in with my flat iron and created some curls. Here are some pics after I straightened it and after I curled it the next day.

Kim Coles Glows with Natural Hair

Kim Coles recently took pictures without her signature braids and showed off her natural hair, with her amazing hair color. I think her hair looks great on her, but what amazed me about this picture is her skin. Whether it was lighting, make-up, or a good camera, she looks great. As you can see in the pics her skin complexion is gold. Like no joke. Yay!!! Now there is another celeb making natural look oh so good.

Anansa Sims- Changing Face of Fashion PSA

I love plus size model Anansa Sims, because she is beautiful and knows all about confidence and self worth. In today's fashion industry you don't see a lot of acceptance and love. It is very important to promote loving yourself in the state you are in now. There is nothing worse than seeing someone on a constant journey of self hate. If you don't love yourself it flows into every part of your life. It affects your job, your health, your relationships, and your dreams. God placed greatness in each one of us, so who are we to tear ourselves down? This is a topic I could talk about forever, because life would be so much easier for some if people would start loving themselves at an early age. Since I don't want to talk your ear off, here is Anansa Sims talking about her journey into plus size modeling, and spreading the message that is much needed.

Tanika Ray Hair

The hair color I attempted to achieve:)
The other day I had decided to dye my hair, but I wasn't sure what color to dye it. I have always loved Tanika Ray's hair and decided to do a color similar to hers. The only problem...it didn't work!! And I had an allergic reaction to the dye! Just watch the video below from my new YouTube Channel and I'll let you in on all the details:) Below are also some examples of fabulous hair color that I love, and the contents of whats inside the Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color Box. BTW sorry about the poor lighting in the beginning of the video. Enjoy!

Inspiration

Titi Branch and Miko Branch of Miss Jessie's
I love when I see other people achieving their dreams, especially when I have the same dream! Whenever I see women going into business for themselves, it makes me feel incredibly proud. I admire women like Amoy Pitters, and the owners of Miss Jessie's Titi and Miko Branch. They too have a salon in Soho, New York and it is just lovely. I am so proud of them, and I love that they shared that amazing day with us through video. Check out their beautiful salon on their grand opening below.

How to Take Care of Your Weave and Your Real Hair.

I decided to make a youtube channel and of course it is called ShearObsession! I posted my first video today about what I do to my curls in the wintertime, and how I take care of my weave and my hair. Check it out! Peace:)

Kinky Curly Review

Pictured above is what my hair looked like before I applied the Kinky Curly. This winter wind is no joke out here, and my hair is suffering! I need to find a product that will help retain moisture even under the harshest conditions. I bought Kinky Curly hoping that it would help. I got it at Target for about $12.00. The results are below. Now please know that the above pictures were taken right after a nap, and my hair was in a bun. I don't walk around looking that busted.

At the end of the day

I think that this product is good for curl definition, but I would pair Kinky Curly with some other moisturizing product if you want all day moisture during the winter. My hair was seriously dry by the end of the day.
Below is a video of how the hair moves with the Kinky Curly right after I diffused it.

Soft Curls with NO HEAT!

Gotta try this on my hair soon!
