A few post's ago I showed Solange in a bright bold dress by Boxing Kitten. Maya Lake is the designer pictured to the left, who finds inspiration from African box prints and retro flair. I really like this woman and her clothes. I just wish I could FIT INTO IT! All of her stuff only goes up to a size 8...that makes nooo sense, whatsoever. I'm just mad because her clothes are so adorable and they can never grace my brown skin with it's glory haha:) I'm kidding, kind of. . Here is the link to view the rest of her collections. http://boxingkitten.com/

Write It Down & Make it Plain (part deux)
Hello Hello:) I am sitting here in vacation mode in the comfort of my own bed. There is candlelit lighting, India Arie singing, and nail polish drying on my toes. Ahh!! Anyways, I wanted to let you all know that I have been making steps towards completing my goals. Today I called one of the places that I had inquired about a job. The woman seemed like she was rushing off the phone, but I remembered what Melissa Dawn Johnson said about never taking no as an answer, and continued to talk my way into an interview at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon! Needless to say I let out a big "wooooo!!!!!". Hopefully by the end of the week I can cross off goal #1: Get a Job.
This afternoon I went out with two wise and dear friends to a Mexican restaurant. I remembered Goal #2: "Cut sweets out of my life during the week (weekends is OK)". I am happy to say that since it is Monday and not Saturday or Sunday I did not get ANY dessert:). I'm only boring you with this because I want to help anyone who is making goals and writing them down to see how you can start putting effort into goals immediately. Just ask God and he will take care of the funky little details. I even did some laundry and cleaned my room and the bathroom which was Goal # 6: "Keep my room clean". You don't even have to tell anyone what your goals are. This way there is less pressure. It is so crucial to make sure that we are contributing to not only others, but to ourselves in a positive way. In the words of my darling bestie Ashley McNeil "Make sure your not just existing, but living."....Bon Soir.

Write It Down & Make it Plain
Good Morning! I have not blogged in quite some time, but that is because I am focused on making my dream as a hairstylist reality in the near future. During family worship about 2 weeks ago, my father focused in on Habakkuk 2:2- "And the Lord answered me, and said write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run and readeth it." This verse is about making goals, writing it down, and sticking to it. How many times have you heard some motivational speaker say write down where you want to be financially in 6 months or where you want to be in your career in 5 years? When you write goals down it breathes life into it, and it is up to you to make the moves to keep it going. It doesn't matter how crazy your dream is if you have talent, passion and drive, you WILL be successful.
When I finally spoke out loud that I wanted to be a hairstylist, there was discouragement from some people. Not because they didn't love me, but because fear of the unknown will bring about caution from others. It is up to us to say thank you for that I'll take that into consideration, and KEEP ON GOING. Take time out of your day today and say, I am going to write down a 6 month plan for my future. Whether it be for school, work, relationships, health, etc. Just do it. Place this plan in an area where you will see it everyday, like your room. Pray over this list and ask God to give you the tools, the strength, the patience, and the drive to successfully complete the list. Here is mine:
- Get a job
- Start working out 5 days a week (Zumba!!)
- Cut sweets out of my life during the week (weekends is OK)
- Make only A's and B's in all of my classes, NO FAILING!!
- Finish reading the the Old Testament
- Keep my room clean
- Make sure that I continue to style hair and learn new techniques for all hair types.
